Sermon Notes

This week Pastor Deric continues the series The New Birth with a sermon entitled The Security of the Believer focussing on John 10: 22-39.
John 10:22-39

ICEBREAKER: If you had the power to change one problem in the world today, what would that problem be?

1. According to John’s Gospel, what “works/deeds” [John 10:25] had Jesus done already to demonstrate He was the Christ? Trace them through the first 9 chapters of John.

2. Why do you think Jesus uses “sheep” as a comparison for believers [John 10:27]

3. Observing the whole context of John 10, what comfort and encouragement do you derive from the “Good Shepherd” and “sheep” imagery of Jesus

4. How can you tell if you are a “sheep” of Jesus [John 10:27]? What are the benefits of being one of Jesus’ “sheep” [John 10:28-29]?

5. What do you learn about Who Jesus is from His words and those of His opponents in John 10:30-33? Why did they prepare to stone Him?

6. What has Jesus done to convince you He is the Son of God [John 10:36-38]?

7. What did you find helpful or challenging about this Sunday’s message?

When a man or woman is born again by the Spirit of God, they will give evidence of it in part by striving to live a holy life. (Alistair Begg)
