Sermon Notes

This week Pastor Deric continues our series The 180 with a sermon entitled “Peter’s 180” focussing on Luke 22:31-34

Luke 22:31-34

Ice Breaker: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

1. What does it mean that Satan wanted to sift Peter like wheat?
2. According to verse 32, who is the one who helps us to repent?
3. Who is the enemy of our repentance? What do we need to do to combat him?
4. Read Luke 15:17. What was the first step in the prodigal son’s repentance? What does this tell us about the nature of repentance and sin?
5. One obstacle to repentance is the belief that we will lose something good (happiness, security, etc.). How is this overcome?
6. What other obstacles do you need to overcome in order to truly repent?
7. What did you find helpful or challenging about the message?

“We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.” – C.S. Lewis
