HYMN RECITAL FOR OUR SENIORS
With all of the limitations surrounding the pandemic, we are committed to providing ways to keep on “being the church”. We’re excited to let you know about a special event just for our Seniors taking place this Sunday afternoon, August 9th. We will be hosting a Hymn Recital with Bill Mair, Pastor Max and special guest pianist Margaret Martin. This event has been specifically designed with the needs and safety of our senior saints in mind, keeping the gathering small and limited to one group, with every effort made to use cleaning and distancing procedures in and around our facility.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Time is Sunday, August 9th from 4pm to 5pm in the auditorium.
  • Come and just listen to some favourite hymns played instrumentally.
  • There will be no singing, just a time of reflective worship as you listen.
  • All of our facility protocols will be in place to ensure a safe and fully sanitized environment for you.
  • You must REGISTER to attend. We’d love to host you on site, but will also LIVESTREAM the event so you can join online.

If you or someone you know fall into the 50+ category, we invite you to register now.

SUNDAY WORSHIP @ CITY CENTRE
This Sunday we continue to offer two ways of joining our worship service, on-site and online. We remain committed to keeping our building one of the safest places you can visit in our community. There are many trained volunteers in place to guide you, and detailed signage around the building to inform you.

We fully understand that not everyone will be able, or feel comfortable, to return in person. That’s okay! All of our Livestream options will remain available and are a full part of the church gathered to worship. You can choose YouTube or Facebook as well as our website.

Whether you are on-site or viewing over the internet, we are continuing to adapt our worship service to allow you to participate with your whole heart, soul, and mind, trusting God to bless us with rich and spiritually fruitful gatherings.

Due to the 30% capacity restriction, you must REGISTER to attend the on-site service.

We are praying with you to experience God’s presence in our midst this weekend,

UPDATE: Tuesday, August 4th at 3:47pm
Church Family,

Registration is now open for worship on-site this Sunday, August 9th at 9:45 am.

We are truly excited at the way God has been working at City Centre. Whether you are worshiping with us in the church building or at home via live stream, we want you to feel comfortable and engaged with your church family.

Our facility is sanitized for your safety and we are continuing to monitor and observe local and provincial recommendations for worship gatherings. In cooperation with the most recent Public Health guidelines, non-medical masks are required to be worn when inside the building. We welcome you to bring your own mask. Disposable masks will be provided if you forget yours.

We fully understand that many will need to stay home for a while longer for a variety of reasons. This is perfectly okay! All services will continue to be streamed live and we consider those who gather with us online – as a small group, watch party, or individual household – to be a full part of the church at worship.

Our goal is that your worship time, whether online or on-site, will be rich and spiritually rewarding, offering a true opportunity for you to encounter the Lord and fellowship with the Body.

Because of the 30% capacity restriction, you must register to attend.

Important note: If you are placed on the Waiting List during the registration process, we will contact you on Saturday to advise if we can seat you. Please keep an eye on your email up until Sunday morning! We are continually monitoring the registration list and configure the auditorium in real time to seat as many as possible!

UPDATE: Monday, June 27th  at 3:46pm
Church Family, Praise God! This past Sunday the Lord blessed us with a beautiful time of worship. Thank you to all who participated on-site and from home. We are ever aware of God’s presence with us and His protection over us.

Our church building is now open to gather on a Sunday morning. We continue to review and revise our own expectations based on current guidelines and our church needs. In light of this, we have decided to remain with one service for the time being. However, because we know there are a number of you that held off coming to leave space for others, we are creating additional overflow areas for people to gather when the main sanctuary fills to capacity. For this Sunday, July 5th at 9:45am, we encourage you to register for on-site worship if you are inclined to attend.

We also want you to know that we are actively working on ways for you to participate in the corporate worship service on site while respecting the public health guidelines regarding singing. Our goal is that your experience in the building will be rich and spiritually rewarding, offering a true opportunity for you to engage with Christ and fellowship with the Body.

We fully understand that many will need to stay home for a while longer for a variety of reasons. This is perfectly ok! All services will continue to be streamed live and we consider those who gather with us online – as a small group, watch party, or individual household – to be a full part of the church at worship. We are striving for more and better ways for us to engage together as we worship both online and on site.

Committed to staying connected with you and to our Saviour,

UPDATE: Friday, June 19th at 3:30pm

Church Family,

Join us this Sunday morning via Livestream at 9:45 am as Pastor Deric continues the Shalom series, teaching from Deuteronomy 6. The service will be streaming on YouTube and Facebook as well as our website.

We are excited to announce that our church building will be Re-Opening June 28th for a 9:45 am service. We are finalizing details for the various aspects of ministry on a Sunday morning. In order to be in compliance with the Ministry of Health, we will have a registration process for you and those within your social circle attending with you. We’ll send you more details and the registration link next week.

We also know that not everyone will be ready, or able, to return to the church building right away. We will continue to have Livestreaming available during all worship services and continue to offer online resources for all areas of discipleship. For those of you that choose to stay home for now, we encourage you to explore ways of doing church in community. That could be having a few people over for a watch party, physically distanced and in a gathering of less than 10; or with your social circle, based on the new provincial guidelines. You can also create an online watch party through Zoom. The City Centre Virtual Café is already set up and offers fellowship and interaction with others during the service broadcasts.

We can’t wait to see you in person! But, in the meantime, let’s stay connected!

This Sunday we’re excited to worship together with you via Livestream at 9:45 am, continuing in the Shalom series with Pastor Deric’s teaching. We look forward to our virtual celebration of the Lord’s Table, which will be a bit different this month. Communion will take place at the beginning of the service, so please prepare a cup of juice and a piece of bread for each believer in your household ready when the Livestream begins. If you don’t have these particular items, it’s alright to use another kind of bread or drink to represent the body and blood of Jesus.

We also hope you will come to City Centre’s first Drive-Thru Food Drive this Sunday, June 7th, 2020 between 1-3 pm. Come and wave to our Ministry Staff and their families as you drop off a non-perishable food item to help us bless our community through our local partner, Eden Food for Change. The most needed food items include canned meat, canned fruits, canned sauce, and chunky soups.

Please note the important rules set out for us by the Region of Peel Public Health. Our staff are not allowed to approach/touch your vehicle and you are not allowed to exit your vehicle. BEFORE YOU ARRIVE, make sure all your food items are packaged in bags that you alone can lift through the window of your vehicle and place on the tables provided. You can enter the parking lot from Fallingbrook Drive only. For more details, visit citycentrebaptist.ca/outreach.

We look forward to seeing your smiling faces on June 7th!

Sincerely,

Subject: Communion Preparation and Streaming Options for Good Friday

Dear Church Family

We’re looking forward to worshipping with you on Good Friday at 9:45 am, including a virtual celebration of the Lord’s Table.  We’ve added additional online options to make it easy to join us.  The service will be streaming on our Facebook Page and YouTube Channel.  You can still tune in through CityCentre.today or our website.  Use Kastio as a backup option.

Before the service begins, assemble the elements.  Pour a small cup of grape juice or wine for each believer in your household. Cut a tiny piece of bread, pita or a cracker for each one as well.  If you don’t have these particular items, it’s alright to use another kind of bread or drink to represent the body and blood of Jesus.

Gather these items in the area where you will view the Livestream.  When we reach this point of the service, Pastor Deric will instruct you to distribute the elements.  For each element, we will pray and invite you to eat/drink together at the same time.

We’re so thankful that technology allows us to continue our worship as a church family, even in unusual circumstances.  If you have any questions about preparing for Good Friday’s service, please contact the office.

May God bless you and your household as we enter into this holy weekend,

Your City Centre Staff

UPDATE: Monday, April 6th at 4:07pm

Dear Church Family

This is Holy Week.  It’s the time when we call to the forefront of our minds the events leading up to Jesus crucifixion, death and resurrection.  And, as a church family, we want to track together as we thank God for the greatest Gift of His Son.

On Good Friday, we will be Livestreaming our worship service at 9:45am.

We invite you to join us for a time of reflection, music and a message from Pastor Deric, centred around the Lord’s Table.  We are planning a virtual celebration of Communion with you as an act of worship and fellowship, even though we are physically apart from one another.

Here is what you need to do to prepare:

Letter from the Elders:

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. – Psalm 23.

Dear Church Family,

We have sent a letter to you through the mail this week, but are copying you via email as well. This is because we sincerely want to make sure that you hear from your elders during this time.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic of 2020 has proven to be a unique time in world history. By God’s grace, this will also be a unique time in the history of the Church. I have found the 23rd Psalm to give comfort, peace and direction to my thoughts and actions over these last days. As we journey together, it is important, now more than ever, that we stay faithful and focused on being the Church, as God has called us to be.

The elders of City Centre Baptist Church want you to know:

1. We care for you.
We know that this crisis may be affecting you in multiple ways. If you are sick or caring for someone who is sick, the church can assist with picking up groceries or medication. If your job has been affected, City Centre is providing resources that can help. If you are balancing working from home with caring for children, we want to support you. If you are lonely, we’re here to surround you with the community. The elders and staff are praying and monitoring the situation with the intent of developing new and better ways of being present in the life of each person who is a part of our church family.

2. We are available to you.
If you would like an elder to pray with you, you can reach out through the home page of our website (citycentrebaptist.ca) or directly through elders@citycentrebaptist.ca . We will call you to pray or just to talk, and we can direct you to more support that the church has available.

3. City Centre is continuing in ministry.
Even though it looks a little different, we must continue to meet together in worship weekly. Plan your Sunday around our 9:45am Livestream. Get dressed for church and gather your family around the TV or iPad. Sing and open God’s Word knowing that you are engaging together with your church family in the worship and praise of our great God who is sustaining us. The staff are providing excellent discipleship tools and programs specifically tuned to our present situation. We must take the initiative to find out how we can best engage with them and continue to press deeper with Christ. So, keep talking to our pastors and visit the website daily.

4. We need your partnership.
In order to sustain all of these resources from our church, we must remain faithful in our tithes and offerings. City Centre has always relied solely on the faithful giving of our church family to provide spiritual and practical ministry to our congregation. As difficult as it may be, we cannot allow fear or circumstances to curtail our habits of supporting the work of the church when we need it the most. As elders, we appeal to you boldly, with full confidence that God will provide. There are several ways you can continue to give:

1. Write a cheque and send it in the mail.
2. Give directly from your bank account through E-Transfer using this email offering@citycentrebaptist.ca
3. Online giving is available by credit card and debit card, through the website or via text message.

4. You can set up an automatic transfer from your account.

If you would like counsel or to talk with an elder about your giving, please do not hesitate to reach out to us (elders@citycentrebaptist.ca).

5. God is in control.
Finally, we remember that God is sovereign over all, working out His plan in everything. His goodness and mercy are our wonderful hope. Our response to COVID-19 is not out of fear, but care and compassion for those most vulnerable and Christian responsibility to our community. It is our privilege to keep trusting, seeking and worshipping the Lord together with you.

Sincerely, in Christ,

Jerry MacKenzie
(on behalf of the elders)

UPDATE: Friday, March 13th at 4:20pm

Dear Church Family,

As a result of the most recent guidelines from the Ontario Chief Medical Officer (March 13, 2020) recommending immediate suspension of all gatherings of 250 or more and heightened alert to “child-care spaces”, City Centre Church is pausing all week-end services  and all weekly ministry meetings until we are cleared to gather safely without risk to anyone.

Our decision is not made out of fear but out of great love for others and the need to protect those who are vulnerable to the coronavirus.

I have asked the staff to find fresh ways to connect in community with you through online teaching, lessons for the children, encouragement and care.  We are already planning to stream worship services to you on Sunday morning.  Watch for updates on social media and our website at citycentrebaptist.ca/cv.

UPDATE: Thursday, March 12th at 4:45pm

Dear Church Family,
Like you, City Centre is following the evolving situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19). We are consistently monitoring the information from government and public health organizations and responding as needed, as well as aligning our response with other proactive congregations. Here is what you need to know from us:

First, our primary call as a church is to respond spiritually. We ask that you pray for our city, our nation and the world in the face of this challenge. Pray also that people will find hope in the gospel through it.

Second, we are called to respond pastorally. If you need pastoral care, prayer or spiritual support, please visit citycentrebaptist.ca/care or contact our Community Life Pastor, Drew Armstrong.

Next, until we are told otherwise, our church will continue to gather together each weekend for worship centred on the Word of God. We are continuing to plan for Easter and our other regular events, while taking extra precautions. In addition, we are actively focusing on prevention by taking the following measures:

We are now sanitizing our spaces 3X per week, including our Children’s Ministry areas and toys.

We have implemented increased sanitization of surfaces and key areas between all Sunday morning services, including Children’s Ministry spaces.

We are maintaining a Children’s Ministry policy regarding wellness, including the standard that no child will be admitted to classrooms who is not free of fever for 24 hours or has nasal discharge or persistent cough.

We will not pass offering plates but rather have baskets available in the back of the auditorium to drop off offerings.

Our First Impressions teams will be advised of a no handshake, no hug policy. We will refrain from our normal practice of greeting one another during morning services and instead exercise a different method of showing community.

We will temporarily suspend our Daybreak and Agape Cafes.

For the service of the Lord’s Table, we will introduce sealed communion cups containing both bread and juice which will be available in each chair (not passed via plates).

Local and national authorities have advised that the public health risk associated with COVID-19 is low for Canada, as of this writing. We encourage you to be proactive in observing the recommended basic personal habits to prevent the spread of germs:

Cover your mouth with your arm when coughing, wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water, utilize hand sanitizer when possible.

Remain at home if you’re ill, especially if you’re having respiratory symptoms like cough, fever, or difficulty breathing.

Self-isolate at home and monitor yourself for respiratory symptoms (fever, cough and difficulty breathing) for 14 days after returning to Canada from ANY DESTINATION. Self-isolation is recommended and no need to notify local public health unless symptoms persist or become worse.

Finally, we are proactively working on enhancing our Livestreaming option should we be required to modify or suspend services.

You can always catch any sermon you have missed at citycentrebaptist.ca/sermons.

For more information on how to protect yourself and prevent the spread of COVID-19, please visit the Government of Canada’s COVID-19 website.

You can check this page and our Facebook and Twitter feeds for up to date information on City Centre’s response.

We thank God for the great privilege of gathering together as the church and do not take it lightly.
Conscious that it is possible we may be prevented from doing so for a time in the near future, we ask you to pray for all who are and will be affected by this outbreak.

We are praying with you and for you!

In the grace of Jesus,
