Above is the latest video update from Pastor Deric in response to the state of emergency in the Province and additional public health measures.
We remain committed to the Gospel and ministry to our church family during this season!
We are not meeting at our physical location for Sunday worship at this time. We welcome you to join us online for Sunday worship at 9:45am through our website, YouTube or Facebook channels. Our Arabic worship service is livestreamed at 1:30pm on YouTube and Facebook.
Our staff are working full time and available to you via email, phone and ZOOM. In person appointments are available for essential/emergency situations. The church building is closed to the public and regular ministry programs are running via remote options.
If you call our office line, we will answer (it is forwarded to our admin staff at home). If you need prayer, we are ready to pray with you.
Now more than ever, it’s important to be in community via the best available means: we have zoom classes and small groups happening every night of the week.
Let us know how you are doing: use Connect with Us on the home page of our Church App (citycentre.today); reach out to pray.pastorderic@citycentrebaptist.ca; and stay connected to Pastor Deric’s blog.
We are your servants for Jesus’ sake,
Your City Centre Ministry Team.
Please see this important video message from Pastor Deric about our response to the Lockdown measures in the Region of Peel.
In effort to be faithful to the Gospel while not adding additional burden to any of our church family:
- We will not be meeting at our physical location for Sunday worship at this time. Please join us online for Sunday worship through our website, YouTube or Facebook channels.
- We will continue to make the church available for ministry to groups of 10 of less throughout the week. This includes small groups who wish to meet at the church, pastoral counselling and prayer. All health and safety protocols remain in place.
- The church is open, our staff is available and regular ministry is running via remote options.
Please watch Pastor Deric’s message to our church family and contact us to stay connected!
We are your servants for Jesus’ sake,
Your City Centre Ministry Team.

HYMN RECITAL FOR OUR SENIORS
With all of the limitations surrounding the pandemic, we are committed to providing ways to keep on “being the church”. We’re excited to let you know about a special event just for our Seniors taking place this Sunday afternoon, August 9th. We will be hosting a Hymn Recital with Bill Mair, Pastor Max and special guest pianist Margaret Martin. This event has been specifically designed with the needs and safety of our senior saints in mind, keeping the gathering small and limited to one group, with every effort made to use cleaning and distancing procedures in and around our facility.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Time is Sunday, August 9th from 4pm to 5pm in the auditorium.
- Come and just listen to some favourite hymns played instrumentally.
- There will be no singing, just a time of reflective worship as you listen.
- All of our facility protocols will be in place to ensure a safe and fully sanitized environment for you.
- You must REGISTER to attend. We’d love to host you on site, but will also LIVESTREAM the event so you can join online.
If you or someone you know fall into the 50+ category, we invite you to register now.

SUNDAY WORSHIP @ CITY CENTRE
This Sunday we continue to offer two ways of joining our worship service, on-site and online. We remain committed to keeping our building one of the safest places you can visit in our community. There are many trained volunteers in place to guide you, and detailed signage around the building to inform you.
We fully understand that not everyone will be able, or feel comfortable, to return in person. That’s okay! All of our Livestream options will remain available and are a full part of the church gathered to worship. You can choose YouTube or Facebook as well as our website.
Whether you are on-site or viewing over the internet, we are continuing to adapt our worship service to allow you to participate with your whole heart, soul, and mind, trusting God to bless us with rich and spiritually fruitful gatherings.
Due to the 30% capacity restriction, you must REGISTER to attend the on-site service.
We are praying with you to experience God’s presence in our midst this weekend,

If you don’t have these particular items, it’s alright to use another kind of bread or drink to represent the body and blood of Jesus. If you are attending on-site, we have individual and sealed packages containing the elements that will be available to you in a contactless way.

Our church building is now open to gather on a Sunday morning. We continue to review and revise our own expectations based on current guidelines and our church needs. In light of this, we have decided to remain with one service for the time being. However, because we know there are a number of you that held off coming to leave space for others, we are creating additional overflow areas for people to gather when the main sanctuary fills to capacity. For this Sunday, July 5th at 9:45am, we encourage you to register for on-site worship if you are inclined to attend.
We also want you to know that we are actively working on ways for you to participate in the corporate worship service on site while respecting the public health guidelines regarding singing. Our goal is that your experience in the building will be rich and spiritually rewarding, offering a true opportunity for you to engage with Christ and fellowship with the Body.
We fully understand that many will need to stay home for a while longer for a variety of reasons. This is perfectly ok! All services will continue to be streamed live and we consider those who gather with us online – as a small group, watch party, or individual household – to be a full part of the church at worship. We are striving for more and better ways for us to engage together as we worship both online and on site.

Church Family,
We are excited to announce that our church building will be Re-Opening June 28th for a 9:45 am service. We are finalizing details for the various aspects of ministry on a Sunday morning. In order to be in compliance with the Ministry of Health, we will have a registration process for you and those within your social circle attending with you. We’ll send you more details and the registration link next week.
We also know that not everyone will be ready, or able, to return to the church building right away. We will continue to have Livestreaming available during all worship services and continue to offer online resources for all areas of discipleship. For those of you that choose to stay home for now, we encourage you to explore ways of doing church in community. That could be having a few people over for a watch party, physically distanced and in a gathering of less than 10; or with your social circle, based on the new provincial guidelines. You can also create an online watch party through Zoom. The City Centre Virtual Café is already set up and offers fellowship and interaction with others during the service broadcasts.
We can’t wait to see you in person! But, in the meantime, let’s stay connected!
Church Family,
Church Family,
By now you have probably heard the Province of Ontario has announced the re-opening of churches at 30% capacity. Praise God! We are so excited to gather together with you in our building for corporate worship and other ministries. We are also committed to doing so with the safety of our church family as a top priority.
We are asking that you please take 5 minutes to complete this survey about returning to our facility for worship and ministry. This will be a huge help to our elders and staff as we make important decisions in the days to come.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to give us your feedback and please stay tuned for upcoming communications about how and when we will resume services at our facility. We can’t wait to see you!

Gather these items in the area where you will view the Livestream. When we reach this point of the service, Pastor Deric will instruct you to distribute the elements. For each element, we will pray and invite you to eat/drink together at the same time.
We’re so thankful that technology allows us to continue our worship as a church family, even in unusual circumstances. If you have any questions about preparing for Good Friday’s service, please contact the office.
May God bless you and your household as we enter into this holy weekend,
Your City Centre Staff
UPDATE: Monday, April 6th at 4:07pm
This is Holy Week. It’s the time when we call to the forefront of our minds the events leading up to Jesus crucifixion, death and resurrection. And, as a church family, we want to track together as we thank God for the greatest Gift of His Son.
On Good Friday, we will be Livestreaming our worship service at 9:45am.
We invite you to join us for a time of reflection, music and a message from Pastor Deric, centred around the Lord’s Table. We are planning a virtual celebration of Communion with you as an act of worship and fellowship, even though we are physically apart from one another.
Here is what you need to do to prepare:
Before the service begins, assemble the elements. Pour a small cup of grape juice or wine for each believer in your household. Cut a tiny piece of bread, pita or a cracker for each one as well. UPDATE: Tuesday, March 31st at 11:44am
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever. – Psalm 23.
Dear Church Family,
We have sent a letter to you through the mail this week, but are copying you via email as well. This is because we sincerely want to make sure that you hear from your elders during this time.
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic of 2020 has proven to be a unique time in world history. By God’s grace, this will also be a unique time in the history of the Church. I have found the 23rd Psalm to give comfort, peace and direction to my thoughts and actions over these last days. As we journey together, it is important, now more than ever, that we stay faithful and focused on being the Church, as God has called us to be.
The elders of City Centre Baptist Church want you to know:
1. We care for you.
We know that this crisis may be affecting you in multiple ways. If you are sick or caring for someone who is sick, the church can assist with picking up groceries or medication. If your job has been affected, City Centre is providing resources that can help. If you are balancing working from home with caring for children, we want to support you. If you are lonely, we’re here to surround you with the community. The elders and staff are praying and monitoring the situation with the intent of developing new and better ways of being present in the life of each person who is a part of our church family.
2. We are available to you.
If you would like an elder to pray with you, you can reach out through the home page of our website (citycentrebaptist.ca) or directly through elders@citycentrebaptist.ca . We will call you to pray or just to talk, and we can direct you to more support that the church has available.
3. City Centre is continuing in ministry.
Even though it looks a little different, we must continue to meet together in worship weekly. Plan your Sunday around our 9:45am Livestream. Get dressed for church and gather your family around the TV or iPad. Sing and open God’s Word knowing that you are engaging together with your church family in the worship and praise of our great God who is sustaining us. The staff are providing excellent discipleship tools and programs specifically tuned to our present situation. We must take the initiative to find out how we can best engage with them and continue to press deeper with Christ. So, keep talking to our pastors and visit the website daily.
4. We need your partnership.
In order to sustain all of these resources from our church, we must remain faithful in our tithes and offerings. City Centre has always relied solely on the faithful giving of our church family to provide spiritual and practical ministry to our congregation. As difficult as it may be, we cannot allow fear or circumstances to curtail our habits of supporting the work of the church when we need it the most. As elders, we appeal to you boldly, with full confidence that God will provide. There are several ways you can continue to give:
1. Write a cheque and send it in the mail.
2. Give directly from your bank account through E-Transfer using this email offering@citycentrebaptist.ca
3. Online giving is available by credit card and debit card, through the website or via text message.
4. You can set up an automatic transfer from your account.
If you would like counsel or to talk with an elder about your giving, please do not hesitate to reach out to us (elders@citycentrebaptist.ca).
5. God is in control.
Finally, we remember that God is sovereign over all, working out His plan in everything. His goodness and mercy are our wonderful hope. Our response to COVID-19 is not out of fear, but care and compassion for those most vulnerable and Christian responsibility to our community. It is our privilege to keep trusting, seeking and worshipping the Lord together with you.
Sincerely, in Christ,
Jerry MacKenzie
(on behalf of the elders)

UPDATE: Monday, March 16th at 8:30pm
UPDATE: Saturday, March 14th at 12:45pm
UPDATE: Friday, March 13th at 4:20pm
As a result of the most recent guidelines from the Ontario Chief Medical Officer (March 13, 2020) recommending immediate suspension of all gatherings of 250 or more and heightened alert to “child-care spaces”, City Centre Church is pausing all week-end services and all weekly ministry meetings until we are cleared to gather safely without risk to anyone.
Our decision is not made out of fear but out of great love for others and the need to protect those who are vulnerable to the coronavirus.
I have asked the staff to find fresh ways to connect in community with you through online teaching, lessons for the children, encouragement and care. We are already planning to stream worship services to you on Sunday morning. Watch for updates on social media and our website at citycentrebaptist.ca/cv.
