Thank you for praying for us as we are in Medellin, Colombia from Jun 22 to July 7! Also while we are away you can get daily updates here on our GO Team Blog! Check back each day.

Day 1 – Friday:

We’ve Arrived!

After a full day of travel on Friday, we each made it back to our host families by around 3:00 in the morning (Saturday). One of the best aspects of our experience in Colombia has always been staying with local families that are members of our partner church, Redil Poblado. Each family hosts a pair of us, and each family comes from different walks of life, and different stages in their journey with the Lord. The Colombians are always so hospitable and love on us each time we come. I’m excited to see the relationships that will blossom between the families and the team members, and the ways that they will mutually build up, encourage, and challenge each other in the faith.

  • Thanksgiving (safe arrival, for an oversized baggage fee being waived for our camp soccer nets!)
  • For the host families
  • For our team members to be good examples and guests
  • For our first ministry event we are serving at tonight (Saturday). It is a youth and young adults event focused on the theme of transformation. I (Greg) will be speaking as will Richard who will share his testimony. Our worship team will also be leading.
  • For our first official reception at lunchtime
  • For our meeting this morning in preparation for the mission we will be embarking on together to the coast next Sunday (July 1)

Two Days to Go!

Ready and Excited!

Bags are packed. The excitement has set in. After 13 team training meetings, organizing team events, and 9 months of growing together as a family, it’s now for real. We’re flying to Colombia this Friday! Four of us are returning to our home away from home with joy, and the other 11 team members are stepping out into brand new territory. Please pray for each of us as we meet our extended family in Christ, love on them, and press forward together with the gospel. This year our big theme throughout the mission is the complete transformation and restoration we find in Christ. Our theme verse is Galatians 5:1“For freedom Christ has set us free.”

  • Thanksgiving (for generous financial partners, raising all the funds needed, answered prayers for travel documents)
  • Travelling mercies (safety, health, fatigue, anxiety/emotional stresses)
  • ESL ministry, Youth/Young Adults Ministries (events and a retreat), Mercy Ministry at Bello Oriente (impoverished women and children)
  • New Ministry on the Coast (running a kids camp with sports and art in an impoverished community, preaching at a church service, ministering at very new church plants along with a group of Colombians travelling with us from Medellin—it’s “a mission trip on a mission trip!”)
  • Team Member Roles (sharing testimonies, drama, worship, sports, teaching)
  • Growth for our team (in unity and passion; and to be challenged through opportunities and experiences)
  • Salvation and Spiritual Growth for Redil Poblado (the church in Medellin) and at the Coast
